Self Catering County Clare: Planning a Group Holiday in Clare in 2026

Planning a group holiday sounds exciting until you start coordinating everyone’s preferences.

One person wants golf. Someone else wants the beach. Another wants good food, while someone else is already searching for activities.

That’s where Self Catering County Clare can make group travel much easier. Instead of splitting your group across hotel rooms, you can share one comfortable base and plan your days around what everyone enjoys.

County Clare is particularly well suited to this kind of break. You have beaches, golf, outdoor activities, heritage, food, coastal scenery and plenty of opportunities to slow down.

And in 2026, there are some useful developments worth knowing about before you book.

Why Choose Self Catering for a Group Holiday?

With Self Catering County Clare, your accommodation becomes part of the holiday rather than simply somewhere to sleep.

For a group, that matters.

You can have breakfast together, make plans over coffee, and return after a busy day to a shared living space. You also have more freedom around meal times and daily routines.

This is especially useful for families, friendship groups, golf tours, hen parties and special celebrations.

At Self Catering Lahinch, Klondell House is designed with larger groups in mind. The property sleeps up to 17 guests across seven bedrooms, with all bedrooms en-suite. It also has spacious dining and lounge areas, a fully equipped kitchen, private parking, and outdoor space.

That gives everyone room to spend time together without feeling crowded.

Start With Your Group, Not Your Itinerary

Before booking anything, work out what your group actually needs.

How many people are travelling? Are there children or older guests? Does anyone have accessibility requirements? Will you bring pets? Does the group want nightlife, outdoor activities, golf or quiet evenings?

Then think about the accommodation.

For Self Catering County Clare, location and layout can make a bigger difference than simply choosing the property with the most amenities.

A large group may need several bathrooms, comfortable communal areas and somewhere everyone can eat together. Private parking can also make life easier when you're travelling with several cars.

Klondell House offers wheelchair access, Wi-Fi, parking, a garden or patio, an open fire and travel cot facilities. Pets are also welcome.

Making this checklist early can prevent awkward compromises later.

Build Your Clare Holiday Around Different Interests

The beauty of Self Catering County Clare is that you don't have to make every day suit everyone.

Your group can split up for a few hours and come back together later.

Golfers might want an early tee time, while others could enjoy a relaxed morning by the coast. Adventure lovers can try surfing, kayaking or paddleboarding. Those looking for something slower can explore local scenery, enjoy a long lunch or simply spend time together at the house.

Self Catering Lahinch already caters for several types of group trips, including golf tours, hen parties, family gatherings and celebrations. Its local activity guides also highlight surfing, paddleboarding, swimming, kayaking and group experiences such as cocktail-making, dance classes, spa days and wellness activities.

That flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of travelling as a group.

Make the Most of County Clare in 2026

There is another reason to consider Self Catering County Clare this year: Clare continues to develop its approach to tourism.

County Clare's Sustainable Tourism Policy 2026 sets out a commitment to responsible tourism and protecting the county's environmental, cultural, social and economic future. The policy highlights the importance of the county's coastline, Burren landscape, waterways, heritage and communities.

Clare was also recognised as Ireland's first county-wide certified sustainable tourism destination in 2025. Its current sustainable tourism programme continues to focus on supporting local communities and businesses while protecting the destination.

For visitors, that means you can make simple choices that support the places you're visiting.

Shop locally. Eat at independent businesses. Follow walking routes responsibly. Avoid leaving waste behind. And give yourself enough time to experience the county rather than rushing from attraction to attraction.

Consider Transport When Planning Your Group

Transport is easy to overlook when you're organising Self Catering County Clare for several people.

You don't necessarily need to put everyone in the same car or build your whole trip around driving.

The Burren & Cliffs Explorer returned for the 2026 season with an expanded route connecting towns, villages and attractions across North and West Clare. The service included Lahinch, Liscannor, Doolin, Ennistymon, Miltown Malbay and Spanish Point, as well as connections to the Burren National Park and Cliffs of Moher Experience.

The 2026 expansion added Ennistymon and Spanish Point following community feedback.

The seasonal service ran from May 21 until September 20, 2026, so it’s worth checking future seasonal arrangements when planning your next trip.

For larger groups, having accommodation with private parking can still be valuable. At Klondell House, private parking is included, helping make arrivals and day trips simpler.

Leave Space for Unplanned Moments

A good group holiday doesn't need every hour scheduled.

In fact, leaving some breathing room can make the trip more enjoyable.

You might plan a coastal walk in the morning and leave the afternoon open. Or perhaps the group returns from a day out earlier than expected and decides to cook dinner together.

That's another advantage of Self Catering County Clare.

You have a shared space where everyone can relax, talk and decide what comes next.

Self Catering Lahinch's properties are close to the beach, golf course, restaurants and pubs, giving groups plenty of options without requiring a packed itinerary.

Think Beyond the Peak Season

If your group has flexible dates, consider travelling outside the busiest periods.

Ireland's Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment launched a 2026 consultation for a new Tourist Accommodation Strategy. The strategy is intended to consider changing visitor needs, seasonal pressures, regional balance and more sustainable accommodation development.

While the national strategy is still being developed, it reflects a wider conversation about how visitors experience destinations throughout the year.

For your group, travelling outside peak periods may also mean a more relaxed pace and greater flexibility when arranging activities.

Choose Accommodation That Keeps Everyone Together

The right Self Catering County Clare property should make the group holiday easier, not create another logistical problem.

Think about bedrooms, bathrooms, shared spaces, parking, kitchen facilities and access to the activities your group actually wants.

Klondell House is particularly suited to larger groups. It sleeps up to 17 guests, has seven en-suite bedrooms and overlooks Lahinch Golf Course. It's also only a short walk from the beach.

Self Catering Lahinch also offers a second restored seaside property suited to families and smaller groups. Together, the two properties provide different accommodation options depending on your group size and plans.

That makes planning easier when your group has different needs.

Plan Your 2026 Clare Group Getaway

A successful group holiday isn't about fitting everything into one weekend.

It's about choosing a comfortable base, allowing everyone some freedom and making time for experiences you'll remember together.

With Self Catering County Clare, you can enjoy that flexibility while exploring the county at your own pace.

From golf and surfing to coastal walks, group celebrations and relaxed evenings together, Clare gives you plenty of ways to shape the trip around your group.

And with Clare continuing its work towards more sustainable tourism, 2026 is a good time to explore the county thoughtfully and support local businesses along the way.
